The Website...

Okay, so the website was bothering me slightly.

One because they very sneakily charged us £50+ for it, and secondly because it's...rubbish. It's pixelated all of my hard work and it just makes it look cheap and nasty.

Now, if its going to do that - I thought, why not use a free site? Okay, so it's full of adverts, but it may give us the chance to show someone what we actually WANT our site to look like in hypothetical terms, and then if the idea can be commissioned we could get this loaded to our now domain name of: www.talentandtechnology.co.uk.

So, for now...take a look at this: The NEW Talent & Technology Website

It's a better design, and without the adverts of wix I think it looks quite good as an actual website. What do you guys think?

Now for our R&D File, we also decided that we wanted a Production Company Name & Logo.

So, we are...
NU Media Talent Productions

Production File coming along quite nicely now, it'd be good to have a bit of sleep but y'know! Presentation practise tomorrow, so hopefully it'll be good!

(Elliot) Web 2.0

Yes the website has had a big update going with a red feel this time, a long with a lot more information and some pictures so it does not look so boring. Its the same link as before.

The Media Festival, Manchester.

The Media Festival in Manchester was a great success. As well as observing the event for this project, we made some useful contacts for our future careers also. The 3 day event consisted of a 'welcome' day where everyone who has been to this event before can catch up and also to discuss the following events of the festival. The second day was more about the seminars and workshops on the business of the media industry and the problems facing the media, such as cuts to funding, universities and the danger of the media industry in Britain shrinking because of these cuts. The third and final day was similar to the second, however this day only lasted until 2:30pm whereas the second day lasted until the evening.

After observing this event, it has given us some insight as to how our hypothetical event could be set out. Due to the event in Manchester being mostly about talks on the media industry, the showcasing of technology for our event will prove to be more interesting for those who are technical and practical minded. Also the breaks for TMF'10 where catered for as well as lunch so perhaps this could be something we could include.

The registration for TMF'10 was very quick and easy as the name badges for the event were laid out on the table and all we had to do was say who we are, pick up our badges and head to the bar/restaurant to await the first seminar. This has been taken into consideration for our event also.

...and one more thing

As a group decision we have agreed to not include the tutorial day (the 3rd day) because it would not be appropriate for the event and would be too costly for the budget.

Also we now have the licence for the domain name for the website which cost us a meer £2.49 for a year (good, eh?!) The domain name is: http://www.talentandtechnology.co.uk/

Poster Design 1: Teaser Poster by Luke

Here's the first poster design I composed on Photoshop. The inspiration came from the Bauhaus posters of the Russian revolution as these posters are very eye catching and so would be very effective in catching the attentionm of the target audience. I will also design a more detailed poster when we have more confirmation of sponsors, dates etc.

(Elliot) Pictures of the event second take

Here are some of the pictures that were taken on 28/10/2010. Really sorry for the late upload, this site was playing up yesterday.
Give you an idea on how much space we could have.
An idea on how we can set up some of the rooms.

A photo of the business design center right next to the hilton hotel. Volunteers and us could stay here and be able to set the event up quickly.

T Shirts (Adam)

I designed multiple T-Shirts that could be used. each colour designating a position or role. i also tweeked the logo design to make them more visible dependant on the tshirts.

http://www.shirtworks.co.uk/index.php is a possible supplier for the Tshirts, this site also offers customised promotional items including, pens, USB memory, and sweets. which may be an option for use as a freebies package/bag for visitors to the event. and also as a good will gift for volunteers. (will need to discuss tshirt numbers and budget with the group before asking for a quote and maybe look into the possibility of a bulk buy discount).
